According to TMZ, the dancer, who’s worked with Beyoncé, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and more, was found dead inside an apartment in a high-end residential complex near The Grove in Los Angeles early Monday morning.

Police say they were called in to the Palazzo East around 7:30am by a person who claimed they heard a woman screaming and as many as 10 gunshots. When officers arrived to the apartment, they heard two more gunshots as they were making their way to a closed bedroom. Inside, they found Stephanie and her husband rapper Earl Hayes, dead. Police believe Hayes shot and killed Stephanie before turning the gun on himself.

Hayes was a very close friend of Floyd Mayweather’s and was once signed to his record label. Floyd Mayweather unfortunately witnessed the gruesome murder-suicide as Hayes Face timed the boxer during his rage. It is alleged that Hayes accused Mosely of infidelity with a famous singer and went into a jealous rage selfishly ending both of their lives.

According to TMZ’s  sources, Earl Hayes had said he was going to kill his wife and the boxing champ was pleading with him to get a grip. Floyd will not say how much he saw, but he acknowledges he was a witness and heard everything. He is currently in shock and is having extreme difficulty dealing with the fact that he witnessed a horrifying murder/suicide.

Stephanie Mosely was a promising actress, dancer, singer and all around entertainer who was adored by many. A number of celebrities took to their twitter and instagram accounts to share their condolences including “Hit The Floor” cast mates Taylour Paige, Kimberly Elise, Lance Gross, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, 50 Cent, Rihanna and many more.  Her light of a spirit touched so many and we hope that she will be remembered by her beautiful light and vibrant life than her unfortunate and untimely death.

Now this tragedy has brought a wider awareness to depression, domestic violence and gun control. Unfortunately in the black community depression and suicide is not addressed properly in many cases.

a 2008 study revealed:

Among Blacks who were already mental health consumers, over a third felt that mild depression or anxiety would be considered “crazy” in their social circles. Talking about problems with an outsider (i.e., therapist) may be viewed as airing one’s “dirty laundry,” and even more telling is the fact that over a quarter of those consumers felt that discussions about mental illness would not be appropriate even among family.

It’s time to help those in need of mental counseling and not shame them. Many people go through depression without realizing they are suffering from the illness. Depression can lead to suicide and other tragic events. This murder-suicide is a form of domestic violence and with the right tools it is possible to seperate from an abusive partner unharmed.
